SOLENOID ENGINE
The Most Beautiful Way To See Energy
The World’s First LEGO-COMPATIBLE
SOLENOID ENGINE
A solenoid engine uses electromagnets to fuel its motion. This incredible machine has almost 400 separate parts, and is the first Technic-compatible solenoid engine ever made. Years of engineering, design, and testing went into bringing it to you, courtesy of Vsauce and the Curiosity Box.

16 UNIQUE COMPONENTS
We meticulously crafted unique gear designs and connectors to build an engine that shows how electrical energy is converted to motion in a nearly 400 piece building kit.

FEATURES THESE UNIQUE GEARS AND COMPONENTS
BRASS FLYWHEEL
The solid brass flywheel stores mechanical energy generated by torque, smoothing out engine operation.
NAUTILUS GEARS
Speed things up! Nautilus gears give bursts of speed to gears further down the line.
GENEVA MECHANISM
Need to trigger an effect over and over? The Geneva mechanism translates continuous motion into intermittent motion.
DIRECTION-CHANGING GEARS
Turn it around! This gear set periodically reverses the direction of rotations
OVAL GEARS
Although elliptical gears are used often in the printing industry, these unique oval gears are ideal for a flowmeter to measure and control liquid flow in pipelines.
SQUARE GEARS
Like their cousins the ovals, these feature constantly changing angular speed.
